WHY CHOOSE THE ROCK CAMP?

The Rock Camp is your answer to the question, "what are the kids going to do during the summer?"

The Rock Camp fits your schedule and offers safe, age-appropriate, engaging programming for your kid, all day long and all summer long.

The Rock Camp is less stress than stringing together multiple care options, more affordable than a babysitter, and more enriching for the whole child than any other option.

The Rock Camp recognizes the importance of academics and we bring that together with a focus on the imagination, life skills, and the relationships within a child’s own world. In a way that only camp can, we combine educational experiences and high energy environments. We pack the day with fun, noise, and learning.

WHERE

The Rock Camp is held on the campus of Community Church of Greenwood, 1477 W Main Street, Greenwood, IN 46142.

Most of the camp activities will take place inside the church building, outside on the sports fields, or at The Gathering Place, a large sports and fitness facility that is owned and operated by the church. The Gathering Place is located on the church campus.

Each week we will also take fun field trips to places around town like the zoo, the pool, and Conner Prairie.

The camp staff is a group of highly trained, vetted, and competent camp counselors whose sole summer mission is to give your child a rockin' camp experience.

The director of The Rock Camp is Kristen, a mother of two young kids and the Kids' Ministry Director at Community Church of Greenwood.

The Rock Camp is a ministry of Community Church of Greenwood. And while we accept all children, and believe they all are valuable, we do ask for your child's sake that all of our campers meet our Capable Camper Requirements. These requirements ensure your child has the best summer experience possible and is able to fully engage and enjoy the camp experience we offer at The Rock Camp.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Is this a Christian camp?

The Rock Camp is a ministry of Community Church of Greenwood. We believe in the importance of spiritual growth in our children and the integration of Biblical values into everyday life. We will begin most days with prayer or devotions, and expect Christian attitudes throughout all activities. While some days will be focused more on fun and activities, we do believe that campers will grow in their relationship with Christ and the application of their faith into their relationships with others. You do not have to have a church connection to come to The Rock Camp.

  • Who are the staff and how are they screened?

The Rock Camp hires high school graduates and college students to work as counselors for the entirety of the summer. All camp staff, counselors, and church staff are background checked and have gone through specific developmental training before the camp begins.

  • What are pick up and drop off times?

Camp opens at 6:30am and doors are staffed and unlocked until 9:00am. Pick-up begins at 3:30pm, and camp closes at 6:00pm.

  • What is a typical day like?

On campus days include all camp activities, lunch, and small group rotation activities. These could include silly games, kickball, guest presentations, and much more! Early morning and late afternoon during pick up and drop off are always structured free times. Imagine lots of games and activities. Field trip days and movie days take up the bulk of early to late afternoon, with lunch in the middle.

  • Can my kid come three days a week?

Applicants looking for part-time enrollment at a reduced rate will be placed on the waitlist and will be notified of openings after May 1st. Part-time campers willing to pay full camp fees ($120/weekly) will be enrolled without waiting. Please note part-time days on application.

  • What if we have a vacation planned during the summer?

Enjoy your time away! Attendance is flexible, but payment is not. All nine weeks of camp must be paid for by July 5th.

  • What safety measures are in place during the day?

Church doors are locked between pick-up and drop off each day. Emergency evacuation plans are in place for fire, severe weather, and intruder situations. No staff is ever allowed to be one on one with a camper. Valid picture ID is required for the pick-up of a child every time.

  • How are medicines and special allergies handled?

All camp staff will be CPR and First Aid certified in case of any medical or allergy emergency. There will be an on-site, trained medical director to facilitate a safe, allergy-free environment and the proper medicinal protocols.

Parents are responsible for packing lunch and two snacks each day. The Rock Camp will provide water fountains but all other drinks are to be provided by the parents and sent each day.
